Why is MetaFrame?
Everything you do with MetaFrame can be done with pandas or xarray.
MetaFrames sits inbetween pandas and xarray.
Why not pandas MultiIndex?
In its core, MetaFrames are MultiIndex, just translated into DataFrames, which are easier to handle.
MetaFrame makes working with MultiIndex easier, faster, more readable and safer!
Why not xarray?
xarray might be a bit over-the-top to handle simple metadata.
xarray is about dimensions.
MetaFrame is about tables with meaning.
MetaFrame:
- Uses DataFrame, not N-Dimensional arrays
- Uses pandas API
- Provide extensive and readable Excel outputs
